Orientation Prezis

The Pownal Independent School begins its school year for 2011-2012 after Labor Day on Tuesday, September 6. Our school year is expected to end on June 13, 2012. From Mondays through Thursdays, our schedule follows a rather traditional school model; however, those four days alternate between "A Days", "B Days", and "C Days". We study the logic-based subjects on "A Days". On "B Days", we study the sciences. "C Days" are spent studying the linguistic subjects.
Every Friday, our students spend the first half of their day at their internship. Currently, our students have secured volunteer positions at day care centers, animal shelters, veterinary hospitals, wildlife parks, and orthopedic surgery centers. The second half of our Friday is spent at the Portland Public Library. During that time, students can either research their independent projects, catch up on their reading, or participate in a library-sponsored program.
During orientation for our first-year students, we use these Prezis to help explain the Pownal Independent School method of scheduling. (See links at right.)
